Biography
I’m Karen Lifford – Regional Events Officer for British Cycling in the East Midlands.
I’ve been supporting the development and delivery of competitive opportunities in the Cycle Sport disciplines of road, track, cyclo-cross, MTB, BMX and cycle speedway as well as sportives and other non competitive events since 2010.
I work with a wide range of volunteers including event organisers, commissaires, accredited marshals and league and event officials.
You will generally find me on the end of the phone/email/video call talking to people about events, attending meetings about events and providing advise and support to volunteers on the ground to increase the quality and quantity of regional participation opportunities.
A bit about me…..
I am a lifelong cyclist and have raced grass track, hard track and road intermittently for far too many years. I have also been known to coach young riders, organise events and have volunteered at many cycling events from the Olympics right through to my clubs annual cyclo-cross event. I am the wife, sister, mother and daughter to other cyclists. I am passionate about cycling, volunteers and trees.
